BMW i4 electric car debuts in India, know its driving range, speed and features

Luxury carmaker BMW has unveiled its new electric sedan BMW i4. This upcoming new electric car i4 luxury will be launched next month. However, the BMW company has not yet announced the exact date. The special feature of the BMW Electric i4 is that it will be India’s first wide-range electric car. BMW company claims that this car will give the longest range of 590km. BMW has launched the i4 car in two variants in the international markets. That includes the eDrive40 and M50 xDrive. Lithium-ion battery packs of 83.9kWh and 80.7kWh have been given in both variants. For your information, let us tell you that BMW has already launched its technology flagship all-electric mini luxury hatchback and all-electric SUV iX. Battery pack and range

There are two electric powertrain options available in the BMW sedan. The standard eDrive 40 variant gets a single electric motor (344PS/430Nm) that drives only the rear wheels, while the top of the M50 trim gets a dual electric motor (551PS/795Nm), which powers all the wheels. Is. Both the variants get a battery pack of 83.9kWh, with a WLTP certified range of 590km for the EDrive 40 and 521km for the M50. The 200kW fast charger will charge the sedan’s battery from 0 to 80 per cent in about 30 minutes. The 11kW Home Wall Box Charger will take approximately 8.5 hours to fully charge.

When it comes to exterior look and design, BMW’s design philosophy for the i4’s exterior is an innovation in itself. What sets it apart from the brand’s traditional combustion engine vehicles is that the sedan has a grille, which is the longest to fit on a BMW sedan. Nevertheless, both the i4 variants share some of BMW’s signature elements like quad-hexagon daytime running lights and slim rear L-shaped LED lights. Furthermore, the coupe-style roofline defines the sedan as a derivative of the BMW 4 Series.

In terms of interior look and design, the i4 sports a 12.3-inch driver information display, which is the largest touchscreen seen in any BMW vehicle. It gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Another thing to note, the all-electric, 5-seater sedan comes with BMW’s latest iDrive OS 8. In addition, the i4 uses premium, eco-friendly upholstery for the interior, but is offered to buyers as an alternative to leather. as well.

Talking about the overall size of the BMW i4 car, this car is 1,852mm wide, 1,448mm high and 4,783mm long. The BMW i4 electric car gets a wheelbase of 2,856 mm.

It is equipped with a 14.9-inch touchscreen system with BMW’s latest iDrive 8 infotainment software. Multi-zone climate control, 12.3-inch digital driver display and wireless charging are also on offer.

BMW i4 Rivals

With the launch of the BMW i4 electric car in the Indian market, the car will compete directly with the Tesla Model 3.

Launch and Price

BMW India can launch the new BMW i4 electric car in the country around May this year. The company will share more details about the same soon. According to media reports, it will be launched in India on 26 May 2022. Prices of the BMW i4 are expected to start at Rs.80 lakhs (ex-showroom).
