BMW is planning to launch a new sedan, which could be the BMW i7. The company has also released a new teaser of the BMW i7. It is being claimed to be the world’s first all-electric luxury sedan. The upcoming EV will offer users a range of over 600 km. It is BMW’s most luxurious and high-tech car to date and is now available as a fully electric car. The BMW i7 will compete with a bigger cars like Tesla.
BMW i7 design
Talking about the design of the BMW i7, it looks a lot like the 7 Series. Upfront, both the BMW i7 and 7 Series get the same grille and similar new split headlights. Sure, there are subtle variations in some model variants, such as the dark trim around the grille of the 760i, but for the most part, they’re all the same. The new split headlight design of the BMW i7 also looks great, providing more visual verticality to the front end, and reducing the visual impact of the large grille. Despite being bigger and faster than the previous generation 7 Series, this new front end design is better looking and less aggressive. The i7 has one neat little trick up its sleeve, its LED-lit grille trim. Instead of the waterfall lighting effect from the kidney grilles of the X7 and X6, the i7 lights up the grille surround trim and it’s far more interesting than the grill lighting of the above cars.
BMW i7 cabin
The BMW i7 is focused on rear-seat entertainment for its buyers. Inside it will be a theatre screen, which is a 31-inch ultrawide display with a touchscreen infotainment system. The theatre screen is huge with 8k resolution which can be taken from the headliner. BMW is also collaborating with Amazon Firestick. Hence, you can watch movies through OTT platforms, and also do streaming. Inside the car, other features including a digital instrument cluster, and LED lighting have been given. It also has a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system as well as ADAS features. BMW’s i7 and next-gen 7 series sedans will be the first sedans to get theatre screens. The infotainment system of the i7 will feature the latest iDrive interface. It is a light bar mounted on the instrument panel and door panel that provides visual feedback.
BMW i7 Battery Pack, Electric Motor and Range
The i7 will be offered as a high-performance, dual-electric limo with an output of 544PS and 745Nm, powered by a 101.7kWh battery pack. It has a WLTP certified range of 625km. The more performance-oriented M70 xDrive Edition with 660PS will be offered soon. Its battery can be topped up from 10 to 80 per cent in 34 minutes with a 195kW charger.
BMW i7 Features
The luxury electric limousine shares its list of features with the new-gen 7 series which includes 31.3-inch 8K touchscreen display for rear passengers, 12.3-inch curved digital cockpit, and a 14.9-inch infotainment system, powered front and rear seats. Massage function, and ambient lighting.
