The year 2022 saw several new launches from several car makers including entry into the electric and hybrid space. When it comes to the cheapest cars with prices starting from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), the below-listed cars entered the market this year. They are as follows:
Maruti Baleno


The Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre Dual Jet petrol engine (makes 90PS and 113Nm), which comes mated to a five-speed manual or an optional five-speed AMT. In the CNG version, the same engine produces 77.49PS and a lower output of 98.5Nm. And comes only with a five-speed manual gearbox.
Its features list includes a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an Arkamys sound system, a reversing camera, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera and cruise control.
equipment includes ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, hill-hold assist and electronic stability control (ESC).
The premium hatchback from Maruti rivals the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Tata Altroz, Citroen C3 and the facelifted Toyota Glanza.
Hyundai Venue


It can be had in five trims: E, S, S+/S(O), SX and SX(O).
Hyundai has kept three engines on offer: a 1.2-litre petrol (83PS and 114Nm), a 1-litre turbo-petrol (120PS and 172Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel (100PS and 240Nm).
Features: The new Venue comes with an eight-inch touchscreen with connected car tech like Alexa and Google voice assistant support, air purifier, automatic climate control, cooled glovebox and push-button start/stop.
Its safety net includes ABS with EBD, six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC) and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Hyundai Venue competes with Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser and Nissan Magnite.
Toyota Glanza


Toyota’s premium hatchback gets the same engine as the Maruti Baleno: a 1.2-litre Dual Jet petrol engine (90PS and 113Nm), making 77.5PS in CNG mode and a fuel efficiency of 30.61 km/kg.
The Glanza includes a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, voice assistance, head-up display, 360-degree camera, auto climate control with rear AC vents, and cruise control.
The safety net includes rear parking sensors, vehicle stability control (VSC), six airbags, hill hold assist (AMT only), ABS with EBD and occupant protection is ensured by ISOFIX child seat anchors.
Toyota Glanza competes with Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Honda Jazz.
Citroen C3


The Citroen C3 can be had in two trim levels: Live and Feel.
Engine and transmission: The C3 gets a choice of two petrol engines: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine (makes 82PS and 115Nm) and a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit (110PS and 190Nm coupled).
Its feature list includes a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, height-adjustable driver seat and a four-speaker sound system.
Passenger safety is ensured by ABS with EBD, front seat belt reminder, dual front airbags and rear parking sensors.
The Citroen C3 competes with the Maruti Wagon R, Celerio and the Tata Tiago.
Maruti Brezza


Maruti Brezza offers it in four trims: LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+.
The Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine (103PS and 137Nm).
Maruti has equipped it with a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, four speakers, paddle shifters (AT variant), single-pane sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, head-up display and 360-degree camera.
Passenger safety is taken care of by Electronic Stability Control (ESC), six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-hold assist and rear parking sensors.
The Maruti Brezza takes on the likes of the Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Tata Nexon and the Hyundai Venue.
