Toyota SUVs are regarded across the world for the bulletproof reliability they provide. For this reason, Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Innova Fortuner are the most popular names in their respective segments. In the international markets, Toyota is selling SUVs in various sizes. Sadly, Toyota has kept the Indian market away from an affordable mid-size SUV. Now, it looks like Toyota is ready to change its portfolio for good. The company will launch the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder to compete with the Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. It was confirmed to launch on July 1. Toyota has officially released the teaser of the interiors of the upcoming Hyryder SUV. The short video shows a dual-tone finish with black and brown as well as silver accents that give the SUV a soft-touch finish and upmarket feel. Along with this new finish, the teaser suggests that the touchscreen infotainment system available on the newly launched Maruti Suzuki model will also be a part of the new Toyota car. Which will feature connected car technology with some remote functions.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Engine
Toyota will offer it with 116PS strong hybrid and 103PS mild-hybrid powertrain. The latter will be available with both two-wheel and all-wheel drivetrains and will get the option of a 6-speed manual and automatic torque converter. At the same time, the robust-hybrid system will get the e-CVT setup.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Design
In the video released by Toyota, it is evident that the Hirader sports a split headlight design, as seen in the recently leaked images and images of test mules earlier this year. Also visible is the slim, single-slat grille (similar to the new Glanza) that extends to the sides of the face of the SUV and shows off twin LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). The main headlight cluster is located below the DRLs and has been widened significantly, with a large trapezoidal air intake sitting between them. The Toyota Urban Cruiser header also appears to sport a clamshell hood design.
The rear styling is also partially shown – dual C-shaped LED parking lamps along with stylish C-shaped tail lamps extending directly to the tailgate. A prominent chrome stripe is located at the centre with the Toyota logo neatly merging with the tail lamps.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Interior
The interiors are likely to get a new dual-tone beige/black look and will be different from the all-black Brezza. The Urban Cruiser header will feature a new dashboard similar to the new Brezza, though it will get a 9-inch touchscreen, a new infotainment system with connected car technology, while also a head-up display similar to the new Baleno. The short video shows a dual-tone finish with black and brown as well as silver accents that give the SUV a soft-touch finish and upmarket feel.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Features
Toyota will offer it with a 9-inch infotainment system, connected car tech and a 360-degree camera. The compact SUV may also get a premium sound system, a heads-up display and a sunroof.

It will compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and Volkswagen Taigun. The new Mahindra Scorpio N will be a strong alternative to the Toyota SUV.
