The trend of electric vehicles is increasing very fast in the market, people are also adopting them very fast. In view of this, the automaker is also accelerating the production of EVs. South Korean automaker Hyundai has finally launched its new electric vehicle Hyundai IONIQ 5 in the Indian market. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 was showcased at the Gateway of India.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 Battery, Electric Motor and Range

The India-spec Ioniq 5 comes in a single variant, which gets a 72.6kWh battery pack, with the single motor setup churning out 217PS and 350Nm. This powertrain gets a rear-wheel drive setup and offers an ARAI-claimed range of 631km. The Ioniq 5 supports up to 350kW fast charging that can refill its battery from zero to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes. Since you’re unlikely to find that kind of charger in India, a 50kW charger can add the same amount of charge in an hour.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 Exterior

The exterior of this EV is quite different from other Hyundai cars. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV features sharp cuts and lines. This is well matched with the bold and sporty alloy wheels and the funky yet sleek LED lights. It was first seen at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show and it looks quite futuristic. Also, ‘parametric pixel’ technology is used in it, which is the smallest unit of digital imaging.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 Interior

The interior of the Ioniq 5 EV is very clean, elegant and durable as most of it is made from recycled plastic. On the inside, the dashboard is dominated by twin 12-inch screens, with Hyundai’s BlueLink connected-car technology as well as flexible seats that slide and recline. Rear seat passengers can benefit from fast wireless phone charging integrated into the console.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 Features

The feature list includes dual-integrated 12.3-inch displays (infotainment system and driver’s display), panoramic sunroof, cameras instead of ORVMs with inside display, ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting and wireless Connectivity included. Phone charging is included. The interior of the Ioniq 5 is made from eco-friendly materials. Hyundai has used bio paint for the IONIQ 5, an eco-friendly fabric made from recycled plastic and eco-friendly leather.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 Safety

On the safety front, it gets six airbags, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with EBD, all-wheel disc brakes and level two ADAS with lane follow assist, lane keep assist, and forward collision avoidance.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 Rivals and Price

It rivals the Volvo XC40 Recharge and the Kia EV6. The price of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 will be around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
