Maruti Jimny and Maruti Gypsy are two popular cars of the Maruti Suzuki brand in India. Although both are small SUVs, there are several key differences between the two that set them apart.

Design and Dimensions

The latest Jimny reflects the spirit of its previous iterations including the Gypsy in a modern avatar. For example, the grille of the Jimny is inspired by the vertical slits present in the grille of the Gypsy (second-generation Jimny). Even the round headlamps have been a part of Jimny’s design since inception, but have been modernized from halogen to LED projectors.

On the sides, you can see the horizontal slit on the bonnet, which was present on the Gypsy. But the biggest difference on the sides is the presence of an extra set of doors for the first time in its history. At the rear end, the tail lamps are housed in the rear bumper, which is again inspired by the Gypsy.

The Maruti Jimny measures 3,625 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width and 1,720 mm in height. On the other hand, the Maruti Gypsy is smaller in size and measures 3,620 mm in length, 1,560 mm in width and 1,745 mm in height.

Interior Features

With a focus on practicality and durability, the Maruti Jimny features a simple and functional interior design. The car gets a basic dashboard with a 3-spoke steering wheel, air conditioning and a simple infotainment system. The Jimny has bucket seats at the front and a bench seat at the rear.

On the other hand, the Maruti Gypsy features a basic and functional interior design with a focus on practicality and durability. Engine & Performance

The Maruti Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 104 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The Jimny has a top speed of 140 km/h and can accelerate to 100 km/h from a standstill in just 12.0 seconds.

The Maruti Gypsy is powered by a 1.3-litre petrol engine that produces 80 PS of power and 103 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Gypsy has a top speed of 140 km/h and can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 11.8 seconds.

off-road capability

The Maruti Jimny is built to tackle tough off-road conditions, thanks to its 4WD system, high ground clearance and advanced off-road features. The Jimny comes with a low-range transfer case, skid plates and a locking differential, which enhances its off-road performance.

On the other hand, Maruti Gypsy is also known for its off-road capabilities. The car has high ground clearance, a 4WD system and a locking differential, making it ideal for off-road adventures. The Gypsy is equipped with a basic suspension system and robust body design, which allows it to handle rough terrain with ease.
