With the increasing demand for SUV cars in the Indian market, auto manufacturing companies have become the biggest focus in this segment. In this sequence, Nissan India has introduced its 3 SUV cars Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Qashqai and Nissan Juke for the Indian market. These three SUVs will be launched in this segment as compact, mid-size and full-size SUVs. Of these three SUVs introduced in India by Nissan, the company will first launch the Nissan X-Trail in India, followed by the Qashqai and Juke at a short interval. Nissan has also confirmed that on-road testing of the X-Trail X-Trail and Qashqai Qashqai has begun in India from this month. Nissan will produce these vehicles at its Chennai plant. The company is working fast and it can be introduced in the Indian market soon. Let’s know about the engine, features, specifications and possible details of the three vehicles.
Nissan X-Trail
Engine and Transmission: Internationally, the X-Trail is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine (with 12-volt mild-hybrid technology) that churns out 163PS and 300Nm. The stronger-hybrid version is rated at 204PS (2WD) and 213PS (4WD).
Features: The India-spec X-Trail could get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, heads-up display, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat. Its safety package may include advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) functionalities such as lane-keep assist and departure warning, traffic signal recognition, adaptive cruise control and electronic stability control.


Rivals: The Nissan X-Trail will take on the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Isuzu MU-X and Mahindra Alturas G4.
Launch: The Nissan X-Trail SUV is expected to arrive in India by May 2023.
Price: Its price is expected to start from Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).
Nissan Qashqai
Engine & Transmission: The Qashqai is offered with the following powertrain options: a 1.3-litre petrol motor mated to 12-volt mild-hybrid technology and a strong-hybrid 1.5-litre petrol. Both the units churn out 190PS but with different torques; 250Nm for the pre and post peaks at 330Nm. A six-speed manual transmission is the mainstay for both the units along with the option of an automatic transmission.
Features: The midsize SUV may offer connected car technology, built-in Alexa connectivity, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 12.3-inch infotainment display, wireless phone charger and ambient lighting. It may have advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as lane departure warning, moving object detection, intelligent rear automatic braking, blind spot detection and more. Other safety equipment is multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, etc.


Rivals: The mid-size Nissan SUV will take on the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson and will be a cheaper alternative to the Citroen C5 Aircross.
Launch: Nissan is expected to launch the SUV in India by December 2023.
Price: Nissan can start its price from Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
Nissan Juke
Engine and Transmission: It is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine, mated to an electric motor with an output of 94PS from the engine and 49PS from the motor.
Features: The compact SUV from Nissan is expected to come with connected car technology with built-in Alexa, wireless phone charger, powered seat adjustment and a touchscreen system. The Nissan SUV will ensure passenger safety with ABS with EBD, airbags and electronic stability control.


Rivals: In India, the compact SUV will take on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushak, Toyota Hyder and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Launch: The carmaker may bring the SUV to India by August 2024.
Price: Nissan can start its price from Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
